From “Summer” in the Superbloom series

Nigel Dunnett, an environmentally astute garden designer, has posted photos on his Instagram account of the naturalistic “wildflower” plantings around the tower of London, called Superbloom. I drink in those photos and they fill me with joy.

I thought of some of the sterile, long corporate hallways I’ve walked down and wondered what it would be like to bring a touch of Superbloom, a touch of soul, to those corridors.

I started going through all my papers and fabrics and grouping colors by season. Then I painted, inked, and dyed more papers and fabrics to fill in the colors and textures of the season. It was chaotic and exciting.

Since I was in the middle of my “Nines,” I did nine per season. Originally, I started with seven seasons for a total of 62 pieces, but I ended up cutting the summer months into 21 pieces and grouped them separately. Now there are five sets of nine or 45 pieces. Image how the feel of a workplace or a home would change with a touch of “Superbloom.”

Each piece is mounted on 10” x 10” archival matboard. They look great in groups of three, four, or more. Or one would make a lovely holiday gift. I’d be happy to help you curate a grouping to suit your space. Or just enjoy taking a look at the finished pieces.
