small pieces
Whenever I am unsure of what to do next, I start making small pieces again. They fuel play. Because they are small, there’s no risk. I can make them quickly and let my mind wander while stitching them. If I haven’t made them in a long time, I’m rusty at first. But it comes back. Here are a few that I made this past week.
They are leading me to something new. I can see it emerging. More on this next year.
It’s been an eventful month. The Art Director for the Notre Dame University magazine (160,000 subscribers) purchased two of my pieces for inclusion in the January edition. I’ll post photos when it’s out. They are re-photographing the work, so we’ll have to wait to see the result.
I was interviewed by Gary Parr for the Fiber Talk podcast. It was a fun and easy conversation. Here’s a link to it:
And my “Nine” was juried into the Whatcom Museum’s Bellingham National “Acts of Healing and Repair” which was juried by Grace Kook-Anderson, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum. I was thrilled to be included in this national call for entry and will be heading up to Bellingham soon to see the show. Here’s a few close-ups the piece:
I do sell my small pieces. If you see one you would like to purchase, email me at info@robertawagner.com Most are $145. Or check out the small pieces on my website.
With 2024 just around the corner, I want to thank you for your notes of encouragement and kind words this past year. They mean a lot to me.
I wish you and yours the best in this holiday season and fervently hope for a better world in 2024.
