gratitude

It’s been a busy, beneficial year for me. I sold our home almost exactly a year ago and moved to a new home that I’m renting from dear friends. It has a studio that is perfect for painting and the whole place has a great vibe. I seem to sync up with the house, dubbed Fiona, and our dispositions match. I love it here. It’s my first home without Bruce and that’s a kind of moving forward.

I also redesigned my website with the talented Mariana Durst; met wonderful new neighbors; went to France for two amazing weeks; had a gallery show; was juried into a show at the Whatcom Museum; and spent time with many amazing artists, friends, and my dear sisters. Wow, what a year!

During all this activity, I knew my artwork wanted to change.

I’ve been trying a lot of things, getting whisper close to my intuitive vision, but not quite there.

So I decided to take Nicholas Wilton’s Art2Life CVP program to help me along the way. He teaches using acrylic on board and canvas – not my favorite materials - but the principles are good and it’s all helping me shift. I’m on week seven of a 12-week program and know that I am in good hands. Nick and all his extraordinary coaches are generous and have a deep understanding of the artistic process.

I look at my new attempts, which are fun to make, with dismay. Not there yet! But as I continue to explore where my artwork wants to go next, curiosity and joy, so important to the process, are with me.

I’ve been quiet here and on Instagram as I find my way forward. I’m so grateful to all of you, though, for liking my posts, buying my book and artwork, and sharing your stories with me.

In gratitude, I want to give away three of my small pieces. Each piece is mounted on an 8” (20 cm) x 8” (20 cm) archival mat board. I’m posting this here as a special thank you to you, my subscribers, before I post it on Instagram. I hope I picked one you like.

The first piece is titled Prairie Fire, the second, Night Sky and the third Wintering.

If you would like one of these pieces, add a comment to this blog, (please make sure I have your email so that I can easily find you) tell me which piece you would like, and I’ll randomly pick three of you to receive the work on the new moon, May 7th.

And hopefully, I will be able to show you where I’ve been heading soon.

In gratitude,
