the drawing

Oh my gosh – thank you for such wonderful comments both on my work and my book.  Heartwarming and uplifting. Thank you.

Since there was so much interest, I thought you might like to see the pieces that are still available for purchase in each of the series.

Prairie Fire

I made the Prairie Fire series after a visit to southern Minnesota where I saw a restored grassland site. I had an old piece with a lot of stitching on it that I didn’t like. I tore it up, added more fabric to it and did more stitch.  Thinking about those grasslands and the fires that were used to maintain them, I burned the edges of the pieces. Pieces are small – between 1.5” and 3.5”. Each piece is $120 which includes shipping and tax.

Night Sky

One of the first pieces I made on a textile, maybe 10 or 12 years ago, was a 12” by 12” square of canvas. I was thinking about the night sky when I worked on it. I did intensive stitch - couching, machine - all sorts.  It didn’t hang together as a finished piece but I kept it all these years because of the fun I had while learning to stitch. I tore it up, added some watered down acrylic, maybe added some beads, more stitch, and coated the piece in beeswax. Pieces are small – between 2” and 3.5”. Each piece is $120 which includes shipping and tax.

Wintering

It had just snowed and was so quiet and beautiful. I thought of MN fields covered in snow and the quiet that descends. For these pieces I started with washi paper that had some old paint on it. I covered most of it with white acrylic and gesso and then added silks, papers, stitch, and beads. I burned the edges again to bring more unity to the pieces.

Pieces are small – between 2” and 4”.  Each piece is $150 which includes shipping and tax.
